Our Team

My name is Cyrus, I am the team leader and founder of Suubi creatives hub, I am  also a film maker(director/writer), a fashion designer, I love creative art and working with young people. 
growing up, I lived with my family and my young sister Esther whom I was very close to. In a community in eastern Uganda with a high rate of teenage pregnancy. Our Hellen mother was working there as a teacher. This community has a myth that educating a girl is a waste of time and resources. Our mother a teacher by profession, tried to make some positive change in the community. She would advise and peer educate some girls mostly my sister's friends to remain in school and was determined to see to it that we all study.
our story changed when my sister got pregnant at age 14 years and later disappeared from home with the boy that got her pregnant. Esther was negatively influenced by some people from the community who never wanted her to be the first girl breakthrough. Due to stigma, mockery and depression, my mother attempted suicide. Her performance as a teacher was affected, my education while at university was affected because I was dependent on her to pay my tuition and I got a dead year. At that time, I lost hope of completing the business course that I was pursuing. During this period of confusion and frustration, I decided to go and learn some fashion skills to be able to earn some income to support my self and my family. Getting a skill changed my life, my hope built up when I started to earn some income, its then that I thought about skilling my young sister who had now returned home after two years as teenage mother with two children that she couldn't take care of. My dream grew more and more and I decided to mobilize some young people who were facing hardship and teenage mothers like my sister to join me, so that I teach them some skills that I had learnt. The Idea was for us to learn and be able to make products as a team to earn some income. I saw the positive impact this made and we made it a mission to impact our peers through creativity and work to bring hope and dignity to us and many others. together we are inspiring, transforming and empowering our peers and solving problems in our community like; teenage pregnancy, lack of jobs, depression, etc.
